Marble Cave

Marble Cave

In the Crimea, among protected forests and fantastic rock formations, one can see a picturesque silhouette of the Chatyr-Dag Massif. You’ll be impressed with an amazing relief of mountains! Heavy rains, mountain rivers and a shake of Earth’s crust have caused karstic cavities in the mountain, which eventually turned into amazing caves. The gem of them is one of the most beautiful in the world – Marmurova Cave (meaning marble). Underground rivers washed away whole galleries in the centre of the mountain, and crumblings separated them into halls. A man paid attention to this beauty and arranged illuminations in the cave, laying narrow roads with pleasant music. Today this wonder of nature invites everyone to walk strange fancy labyrinths and enjoy the beauty frozen in stone.

Marble Cave is like alive; everything is growing, moving through water. Only nature can polish stones so skilfully. You should pass a man-made 10-meter-length tunnel to get into the Gallery of Fairies, decorated with chimerical statues of stalagmites; within their contours you may see fabulous heroes, different animals and unusual castles. Most names of stalagmites and stalactites are given by children as far as everyone knows how much child’s fantasy is, as well as their specific extraordinary world outlook. With every your step stalagmites, resembling Elephant, Mammoth, Dragon Head or Frog Princess, show up in the darkness.

Gigantic halls of Holovna and Nyzhnia Galleries are beautiful as well. You are well advised to see halls with such interesting names as: Troyand, Nadiy, Balkonna, Lyustrova and Shokoladna (Roses, Hope, Balcony, Chandelier and Chocolate, respectively). All around you’ll notice stone waterfalls, cascades of lakes, coralit stone flowers, and sculptural stalagmites. In Palats Hall you are going to visit Royal levee – you’ll be greeted by grandiose columns “the King” and “the Queen” and their royal suite of fantastic stalagmites. All of this beauty is made not by a gifted sculptor, but by drops of water. It’s amazing!

Perebudova Hall is the most mysterious. It greets guests in the dark. But when you come to this place, suddenly, the darkness moves back, the bright light of the searchlight fill up the hall, and the first thing to impress you is its giant size: 20 meters of height and 4 thousand square meters.  Snow-white coral carpet of stone flowers covers the wall of the hall and close to elegant brittle laces – little lakes, there is a unique 7 meters stalagmites “Vezha shcho vpala” (meaning, a fallen tower).

You can breathe freely, as there is none of allergen around this place. The cave is used in particular as a recreational-medical centre, a place to clean respiratory tracks of a man. So, apart from aesthetic enjoyment and brilliant impressions you are going to get your health portion.

Please, drop in the underground tale, and let your mind to create your own tale heroes.
