Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin in the village of Pistyn
Among the dense forests of Hutsulshchyna in the Ukrainian Carpathian Mountains, Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin may be found. This wooden church is one of the main architectural monuments of the region. It was built in 1600. It is surrounded by the remains of stone walls, which were built to protect the shrine from the Tatar invasions. Near the church, you can see a bell tower of the 18th century, an ancient cemetery and a hanging wooden bridge.
This church is a unique monument of the Hutsul architecture. It is a popular attraction of the region. The temple is situated in the village of Pistyn, in Hutsulshchyna National Park. The town of Kosiv is located not so far from the church.
