Museum of Modern Art in Odessa
Museum of Modern Art in Odessa was founded in 2008. Young and more experienced artists of the city were able to easily demonstrate to the world their best work, giving to the public all the new and interesting. The basis of the first collection of works by artists of the society formed a "second wave of Odessa avant-garde" which emerged in the second half of the 20th century. These paintings belonged to collector Michael Knobel. The initiator of the opening of the exhibition and the founder of the museum was the famous philanthropist and cultural figure V. Morokhovsky.
In several rooms MSIO are works of art of artists and sculptors of the 20th and beginning of the 21st century.
The main exposition of the museum:
- South Russian School of painting of the second half of the 20th century;
- "Fence exhibition" Valentine Khrushchev and Stanislav Sychev;
- apartment exhibitions of nonconformists of Odessa 70s;
- post-underground `90s;
- New names of Odessa and others.
On two floors, spacious rooms are located just 10 different exposures. Some of them are temporary - are demonstrating their talents and creativity of the young artists on tour; The second part - a permanent gallery. All the works of the museum as well as possible reflect the mood of the city, its news and live threads. In one of the halls of the museum opened Salon.
The museum is open in this mode: Wednesday - Saturday from 12:00 to 19:00, Sunday - 18:00. Nearby is worth visiting a monument to Isaac Babel .
