House Vice-Governor

House Vice-Governor

Vice Governor House was built in 1808-1811 years in the style of Russian classicism province. The building project is designed Petersburg architect A. Zakharov, finalized provincial architect M. Amvrosimovym.

The building is square in plan, floors (two floors and a third ground) and two L-shaped one-story side wings, connected by brick fencing. At the end of the XIX century, after the transfer of the building Petrovsky Poltava Cadet Corps wings were demolished. House lieutenant governor - is the only building of the Round Square, the main facade lacking decorating remaining seven buildings columned portico. Instead, the house is decorated with protruding corbels at the corners of the facade, as extreme ground floor windows are decorated with columns at the sides and pediments. Also home of vice-governor in the building also housed the provincial service.

It so happened that destructive war is not spared and this building in 1943, the house was burned. In the years 1956-1959 the house rebuilt and redevelopment by architect M. NABOYCHENKO.

Now the building is used as a dwelling house.
