House Debye-

At the end of the 1920s created the project for the construction of a multistory building cooperative of writers` Debye- "56 apartments. They lived in the house only Ukrainian writers, only about 130 writers and several artists. Writers in Kiev , following the example of their colleagues Kharkov, decided to build a house. Architectural style was chosen constructivism - fashionable at that time in Ukraine. However, the lack of money greatly changed the original appearance of the house, its reworked several times, and the building was stopped and then resumed.

Debye- built as an expensive luxury housing. Almost every apartment had a few rooms and its own phone. Most of the apartments have two or three bedroom. Some time later, after the commissioning of the first body, the second body was built in classical style. It housed a spacious four-and five-room apartment with a large office. An interesting fact is that each apartment has been built maids room. The rooftop penthouse - there had to work a literary cafe. Solemn delivery of apartments writers took place in spring 1939. Here lived Maksym Rylsky, Ostap Cherry, Vladimir Sosiura Paul Tychyna and many others.

Nowadays Debye- - a monument of architecture, many rooms are open-museums of writers, some offices are located. House - absolute champion of Ukraine on the number of plaques, it is worth seeing every connoisseur of Ukrainian literature and a traveler.
