Holy Makarii Cathedral

In 1903, the temple was built Makarii, and a year later he was consecrated in the year glorification Seraphim of Sarov.

Even before the coup in Poltava   at the church acted Makarii Brotherhood, which was engaged in charitable, spiritual and educational work. The church was closed in 1938 and 1941. At the same time 40 Poltava churches were destroyed or simply closed. Makarii temple spared the wave of destruction of the temple in the period of so-called "Khrushchev thaw."

Even after 1962 demolished Cathedral of the Transfiguration,   he received the status of the cathedral church. Now the temple belongs to the Ukrainian Orthodox Church Moscow Patriarchate and its services are held daily.
