In Zaporozhye there are many monuments and just with its ancient houses an interesting history. One of them - a former apartment house of Ivan Kurzhupova.
History of the House of Ivan Kurzhupova
The owner of the house Kurzhupov, like many merchants, decided to take an apartment for rent in it and thus ensure themselves a steady income. Therefore, these houses and they called profitable. One of the largest tenants are high-school students of the Alexander School - children burghers, who studied in the middle school. According to legend, when there was not even a county town Aleksandrovsk, the site of the apartment house was the laboratory, where he studied the properties of local clay.
The house itself is somewhat subsided with time inside, although only slightly. But the real highlight of the mansion Kurzhupova is that in the basement (or ground floor), at a depth of 5 m is a museum of applied ceramics. It exists today; there you can see the different construction materials times when Aleksandrovsk district only grew, maps of buildings, bricks, tiles and so on. d.
Built at the junction of the 19th and 20th centuries, the aforementioned merchant house well preserved, although it no longer has its former magnificence.
