Museum of Gorky, Upper Manuylovka
In the Poltava region in Upper Manuylovke opened literary-memorial museum named after M. Gorky. The museum includes 5 rooms and is located in the park of the former estate A. Orel, where the writer stayed to visit only twice in 1897 and 1900.
Here Gorky not only rested and treated, but also worked. In this manor were written such works as "The Crimean sketches", "former people", "Spouses Orlov", "Fair Goltve", "Malva", "In the Steppe" . In this beautiful place, he began writing the novel "Foma Gordeev." Bitter together with local teachers and a country doctor Alexander Orlov decided to organize a national theater and choir. In this town was born the son of the writer Maxim.
