Berdyansk Art Museum named Isaac Brodsky

History of the base art museum in Berdyansk is closely linked to the events of the October Revolution. In the early 20th century, authorities decided to destroy the richest collections of art museums of the former empire. This news quickly spread through the district and reached Zaporozhye . Thanks to the quick delivery of the information of the   collection Academy of Arts in St. Petersburg was saved   a graduate of the Academy of Isaak Brodsky. Total 230 paintings were removed by truck in Berdyansk.

In 1930, on the anniversary of the October Revolution, on the second floor of the local history museum was   open art gallery, where paintings once again saw the world. Isaak Brodsky was appointed head of the museum posthumously. Thanks to his efforts to the beginning of the Second World War, the number of objects exposure reached 500 paintings. During the war, the collection was evacuated. On his return to Berdyansk museum building was destroyed, so many years, the museum could not find a new home.

In 2007, the museum finally got the room in which has complied with all regulations for storage of exhibits. Its doors are open to visitors. The museum conducts active international activity. At its base are a variety of congresses, seminars, as well as charity auctions. Museum named after Isaac Brodsky is a member of   Committee of the International Council of Museums UNESCO.

Berdyansk Art Museum is one of the most unique museums in the Zaporozhye region. Within its walls featuring paintings by artists of the set of Azov region. All in the museum, there are about 5,000 exhibits.
