Admiralty, Nikolaev
Admiralty - a complex of buildings of the Navy Department in Nikolaev . It is located on the river Ingul not far from its confluence with the Southern Bug. Admiralty Building dates back to the year 1788 during the creation of Nicholas shipyard by order of Gregory Potemkin. According to the original plan of construction, the complex was a rectangular shape and is a kind of a small fortress.
In 1840, by order of Mikhail Lazarev was reconstructed. Then Admiralty complex was greatly expanded, to add to it the building of the cable and foundries, workshops, barracks height of several floors, as well as the gymnasium building, which now houses the City Construction College.
During the Second World War, the building complex suffered greatly, most of them were destroyed and lost forever. Today, the main building of the Admiralty Shipyard is named after 61 Communards. He moved here in 1951.
