Deep ravine

A deep ravine - historic area, the vast sprawling village vygral (Korsun-Shevchenko district, Cherkasy region). It is located on the outskirts of the village, in the south-western part. The area has great historical significance for Ukraine. It was here, in the distant 1648, there was a famous battle between the forces of Korsun Ukrainian Hetman Bohdan Khmelnytsky and Poles, led by Hetman Nicholas Potocki.

The confrontation ended with the complete defeat of the Polish army. For the victory of Cossacks appeared even nature itself - woodland was a serious obstacle to the enemy and prevent him turn in full force. Cossack regiment, which was led by registered Cossacks Maxim Krivonos, ambushed in the Deep ravine. This ambush and was crucial in the battle against the hated enemy.

After the victory of the village got its current name and became known as the ravine cut. Remains of trenches dug then the Cossacks, survived to our times. In 2008, on the site of the Battle of Korsun installed a memorial monument.
