Church of St. John of Dukla, Luzhany
One of the most interesting places in Bukovina is a village Luzhany. It became famous among tourists that it is the oldest church Bukovina, but apart from it there is something to see. Particular interest to his church attracts John of Dukla whose history, though small, but no less interesting.
History of the Church John of Dukla
The history of the church begins with 1847, when the local Catholic community has made the construction of a wooden church. Patron chosen for her by Jan of Dukla - one of the first of the holy city, which is particularly venerated zealous Catholics in Western Ukraine. That same year he erected a monument on the territory of the church, which stands there to this day.
Wooden church to this day not reached. 1914 church was completely burned. Then the community decided to build a new church, but a stone in the Gothic Revival style. With the advent of Soviet power the church was closed, it happened in 1955. She converted to the furniture store. The altar and some interior elements were transported to St. Peter and Paul Church in Kamenetz-Podolsk. There they are today. Church gave the Catholic community of the village in 1993.

John of Dukla church - one of the few surviving examples of Gothic Revival in Bukovina. Its courtyard is an old statue of St. John. Church renovated at the entrance preserved old stained glass. The interiors are partially preserved.

Luzhany are on the road N-10 by 16 kilometers of Chernivtsi . A village buses regularly go Chernivtsi - Ivano-Frankivsk , Chernivtsi - Kitsman , Chernivtsi - Vyzhnytsia. A railroad runs Luzhany where local trains stop to Coloma, Stefaneshty and vyzhnytsia.
