Museum of the brown bear, Manyava

The initiator of the creation of such an unusual museum in the village of Manyava became an ecologist Skidanyuk Nikolai Mikhailovich, who is concerned about the threat of the final disappearance of the brown bear Carpathian forests. He states that the lands Bohorodchany and forestry Solotvinskiy now live only 4 animals. Carpathian brown bears live about 8 years, and the norm should live out at least 30.

In our country, the brown bear is found only in the Carpathians. According to employees of the Carpathian biosphere reserve , in 2005 there were approximately 200 animals. As a species, endangered species, the brown bear is listed in the Red Book. That is why the youth public agency "Our House - Manyava" with the program "Protecting Bear in the Ukrainian Carpathians", carried out with financial assistance of the Netherlands in Ukraine, considered it their duty to create the country`s first museum bear. Its purpose is educational activity, and efforts aimed at saving the Carpathians the brown bear.

In small rooms of this unusual institution has gathered more than 80 exhibits, each of them gives an occasion to remember the mighty beast. The main object of the museum - a stuffed-bear brown present. And there are souvenirs, toys, Hutsul tiles depicting the master of the forest, lots of interesting trinkets and t. E.

An integral part of the exhibition is an exhibition of paintings and photographs. The museum has a small library with local history, thematic and scientific literature. As for all life bear, in particular, the Carpathian. It also provides educational seminars and tours.

Similar museums already exist in some European countries.
