Memorial to those who died during the Second World War, Matveevka
Every major city in Ukraine felt all the horrors of war. And Mykolaiv no exception. In Matveevka neighborhood is the Memorial died during the Great Patriotic War.
Every year on March 28 inhabitants of Mykolayiv celebrated an important date - liberation from Nazi occupation. And on this day nikolaevtsy commemorate those who took the city from the enemy. First mention feat 68 paratroopers under the command of KF Olshansky.
History of Liberation
In the night of 26 March 1944 the legendary troops landed on the territory of the seaport. Over two days of fighting not abated. During this time our soldiers was repelled 18 attacks.
Of the 68 troopers survived only 12 Matveevka (then village) was released a day earlier than Nikolayev.
What you can see
In the area there are Matveevka Glory Park, where the memorial to fallen soldiers. He stands over the mass grave, where they found eternal peace soldiers and local residents.
In March 2015 nikolaevtsy celebrated 71 anniversary of liberation from occupation. Years pass, and the feat 68 paratroopers lives in the hearts of the grateful townspeople.
