St. George (Bulgarian) Church, Belgorod-Dniester
St. George Church is located in the city of Belgorod-Dniester, and refers to the architectural monuments of local importance. It was built in the first half of the 19th century and is of great importance for the Bulgarian community of the region.
The architect of the church was invited Pan Zaushkevich, matched to the style of the building interesting ensemble of modern forms and features of the fortifications. The combination turned out to be very successful, the church represents the power of the Bulgarian traditions expressed in the monumental temple with a large dome and characteristic semicircular walls with painted patterns.
In the period from 1934 to the early 2000s - the church was closed. Now it is substantially restored by replacing the front drawing modern materials. He again is valid.
A special feature of the church is its historic cemetery, which was closed in the 30s of the 20th century. Here are preserved graves of famous Princes Volkonsky, as well as monuments to prominent residents of the city with large 1.5 meter sculpture.
