Sanzheysky lighthouse
Sanzheysky lighthouse is located in the village of Sanzheyka Odessa region. The history of the lighthouse is quite interesting. In 1792 there was put watchtower and seconded to garrison duty. At the same time, and was built the first version of the lighthouse to ensure the safety of seafarers. On the spot in the Black Sea there are two undercurrents coming from Kerch and the Bosphorus, they diverted ships from the coast, it was the reason for the creation of the then patrol facilities - Sandzak. Sandzak was named after the Turkish word "Sechdzhak", which means the place, the area for a specific purpose, in this case, it referred to the lighthouse.
In the afternoon, to warn of the dangers of going ships, the tower was attached maritime flags, and at night using lights. This went on for a long time, before the war began in 1941. Later, the tower was demolished in sea water, in 1956 it was decided to build Sanzheysky lighthouse that can be seen today.
Because of strong currents all along the sea coast is eroded. To avoid flooding of the lighthouse, it was moved in 2010 to 80 m inland from the coast.
