Lenin Avenue
Lenin Avenue - the central and the longest street in Zaporozhye (12.8 km). Lenin Avenue was formed during the time of development of the city. The first section of the road has become the modern DC "AvtoZAZ" to the transport area, before it was called Forge Street and connects with the street Cathedral. In general we can say that Lenin Avenue developed together with the city. With increasing Alexandrovsk, doubled the length of the avenue.
In 1922 Cathedral Street was renamed after Karl Liebknecht, during the German occupation and all bore the name of Adolf Hitler. The project is to integrate several streets in one was created in 1949, and in 1952 Lenin Avenue got its present name. He united the four streets: 8th longitudinal street Karl Liebknecht, forge and on the street Voznesenka.
In 2002, the city government was established in Zaporozhye program of reconstruction of Lenin Avenue, in the course of which have been renovated facades of buildings, equipped with green areas, flower beds, formed by dividing the green zone.
There is a legend that Lenin Avenue is the longest avenue in Europe and the longest prospectus, which bear the name of Lenin, but it`s all rumors and leaders are located in Kharkov and Volgograd. Despite this, Lenin Avenue is the main street of Zaporozhye. Following along the avenue, you can get anywhere in the city. At almost every turn there are many different areas, fountains and monuments. Lenin Avenue is the best place for walking around Kiev.
