Peter and Paul Church, Kharkiv

Peter and Paul Temple was opened in 1866 on the outskirts of the city   Kharkiv in the suburbs Zhuravlevka. It was the first church built in the name of these two apostles. Construction of the stone church building was started in 1871. and was completed in 1875. The Sanctuary   It is constructed in a combination of two styles: Byzantine and Russian, with the project architect Daniel F. and V. Nebolsin.

The church had a dome and three altars. The main altar was built in the name of Peter and Paul, the second - in honor of St. Basil`s Cathedral, the third - in the name of John the Baptist. The church functioned female parish school where everyone could go. Even during the Second World War, the temple did not stop their activities.

In 1996, to his 130-th anniversary of the church was restored, and thus gained a second wind. At the same time, it opened and a Sunday school named after Basil the Great, where all who wish to teach the lessons of faith and foundations of church music. The temple is always visited by parishioners and believers.
