History Zhytomyr Philharmonic

The building in the heart of Zhitomir was designed and built as a theater in 1858. Project Theater performed the then famous architect John Shtromm. The hall can accommodate 600 spectators and accurate calculations provide excellent acoustics. Philharmonic was founded in 1938, during the occupation but work was suspended Philharmonic. In 1944, the Philharmonic has resumed its work and received the status of Regional State Philharmonic.

1966 was a milestone in Zhytomyr Oblast Philharmonic - built a new building for the Regional Music and Drama Theatre. Thus monument of history and culture - historical building of the theater has moved completely to the needs Philharmonic.

Interesting fact

On stage Zhytomyr Regional Philharmonic troupe performed Kropivnitskogo and Staritskogo, Karpenko-Kary, Saksahansky. Also on stage were world famous Viardot, Krushelnytska, Aldridge, and Ukrainian - Zankovetskaya, Sadovska.
