Museum of Nature in Zhytomyr
The Museum of Nature is located on the Castle Hill in Zhitomir. It was built in the 19th century. Initially, it carried out an exhibition of rocks and minerals, many from the personal collection of the governor Chertkov.
In 2011, it was decided to build a separate room for the museum, as the building of Holy Cross Cathedral, and it is there before and a museum, passed into the possession of the Orthodox Church. Today the museum is a diverse and outstanding collection, which includes more than 1,5 thousand exhibits. They are located in six huge halls. Exhibits showcase to visitors the beauty and splendor of the flora and fauna of the Zhytomyr region, as well as talk about bowels and rivers flowing here.
The museum is famous for its nature and the largest in Ukraine collection of stuffed birds, and another collection of gems and minerals. In addition, there are exhibitions from other museums. The most popular among them the exhibition "Butterflies of the World" and "anomalies of the human body."
Near the museum are History Museum and the church of Hagia Sophia .
