Kutuzov park
On the high bank of the river Irsha flowing north picturesque Zhytomyr, is an interesting underwater area that remembers bahateznyh tycoons, prominent military leaders and fierce battles. This Kutuzovsky park in nice, formerly called Volodarsk Volyn, and even earlier - Kutuzov and Alexandroupoli.
History Kutuzovsky Park
It is on a slope Irshi emerged sometime in the ancient settlement, where the Polish gentry erected a fortress, mentioned in chronicles in 1545. Since then there were the ruins of defensive walls, still any local resident will show where the good "Shaft." In the 17th century these territories held his residence Sapieha Lithuanian magnates. Maybe they laid the park in Khoroshko as it was called settlement.
In 1796, Empress Catherine II gave the estate of the famous Russian commander Mikhail Kutuzov and, as a reward for military achievements. He built this magnificent palace Kutuzov, who towered over the entire township middle of a beautiful park.
Interestingly, in the hills near Kutuzovsky estate stood opposite one another Cossack church and the Catholic church. 17th century wooden church painted in red as a symbol of Cossack blood, and it looked like the interior of the church with mysterious film "Vij" Nikolai Gogol. At the palace and the church she formed a unique ensemble on the picturesque slopes of Irsheyu.
However, came the war, continued fighting between the army and the Bolsheviks Petlyura. And in 1919, the palace Kutuzov, which at the time housed a military hospital, there was a terrible fire. And this time the place where the estate in Volodarsky, Volyn, stands vacant lot. Unfortunately, documentary evidence or photographs palace also survived.
For 20 years Kutuzovsky park has become a favorite place for walking and entertainment locals: it organized various festivals, literary debates, dances. But years of militant atheism did not pass Volodarsk Volyn: Catholic church and Cossack church destroyed. And the locals have given a vacant lot where a church, a symbolic name "Golgotha." Next, through good ride destruction of World War II, when German invaders cut many trees of the old park to rebuild the bridge over the blown Irshu.
Only 50-ies Khoroshevskoe park began to recover. Orthodox congregation built a new church on the site once destroyed, and the Catholic community - church. The park also preserved centuries-old oaks.
Monument to Kutuzov
The 100th anniversary of the victory over Napoleon`s Empire army decided to rename the town after the famous soldiers - Kutuzov. Also wanted to put a monument to him, but failed, and the name of the commander settlement was only 9 years old, did not come here until the military disaster. Until 1959 are installed bronze statue of Kutuzov, sculptor Postnikova.
This story is not finished: in 2004 the monument was stolen some vandals. Therefore, the community decided to build a new monument, which set 2006.

Kutuzov Park is located in the center Khorosheva (formerly Volodarsk Volyn). It is located 70 km north of Zhytomyr, where you can get on the highway Zhitomir - Korosten go to turn left, turn at the sign on Volodarsk Volyn (renamed the Good 2016).
