Spasov skit, May Day
The reason for the construction of the monastery was Spasovo train wreck, which went Alexander III and his family. None of the royal family was not injured, but the emperor saw this as a special sign and ordered on the scene to build a church and a chapel of Christ the Savior Holy Face of Our Saviour. It happened in 1888 in the village of Pershotravneve Kharkiv region.
The first temple, put in this place, at the same time could hold up to 700 parishioners, and its walls encircled covered gallery. A chapel built on the spot where there was a royal family during the crash, rose four-sided tower with golden domes and crosses.
During the war, the temple was destroyed, and the chapel was beheaded by using its territory as a warehouse. After the collapse of the Soviet Union began the reconstruction, which was completed in 2003. At the site of the old temple altar placed a wooden cross, and a little further built a new church.
Near the temple you can see the pedestal on which was a bust of the emperor, did not survive the revolution. Another church, dedicated to this event, is in Foros in the Crimea.
