Peasant (Land) Bank, the SBU

The current management of Security Service of Ukraine in Zhytomyr region is located along the street Feshenko-Chopivskogo. Previously, there was a peasant or the Land Bank city of Zhitomir. The building is quite beautiful and original, it is difficult not to notice among the other buildings in the city streets.

History of country (Land) of the bank

The room itself Farmers Bank was built in the early 20th century and has a complicated history. Its main architect was well-known at the time the architect of Zhitomir Mieczyslaw Adamowicz Librovich. For all its existence the building changed many owners and served different roles at different power.

When it was the Soviet government in the building of the former Bank settled the Extraordinary Commission for Combating Counterrevolution and Sabotage. Still later, when the same power is located NKVD, or in other words, the NKVD. When Zhitomir was ruled by the occupying Nazi troops, the building was the Gestapo.

In another incident a while placing Farmers Bank was occupied by the Committee for State Security (KGB). And now, in our time building the Land Bank in the possession of the SBU. The room itself is protected by the state as an architectural monument. The building is preserved in good condition and almost intact. Everybody can see an interesting building of the former Land Bank, now SBU.

How to get to the management of the SBU in Zhitomir

Before the building of the Peasant Bank can be reached through the streets of Kiev, Shevchenko and Gogol, as well as public transport № 58. The distance will be about 5 km.
