Velykoanadolsky Forest
Artificial oasis, created by human hands in the waterless steppe ... Velikoanadolsk wood planted in the middle of the 19th century, now takes 2.5 thousand hectares! Its creator, a graduate of the St. Petersburg Forest Institute Victor von Graff, developed a system of irrigation, by which the desert region has become one of Europe`s largest forest steppe.
Today, tourists and locals, tired of the urban bustle, can relax in the wellness center "Forest Park", which is on the shore of the lake.
Strolling oak, maple, linden alleys, you can suddenly find lurking in the green building of the Museum of the forest , and in the arboretum to see about 200 species of trees, brought here from around the world. More on the territory of the state of the reserve are Forest College, Holy Dormition Monastery of St. Nicholas Vasilevsky and fossilized Araucaria, whose age is 300 million years old.
