Assumption Church in Tulchyn

Church of the Assumption in the center Tulchin is a unique relic. This building has survived two world wars. It has no damage, intact high bell tower and beautiful shaped dome. And in the 20th century, when most of the temples were converted under the economic needs, Assumption Church remained closed, keeping the inside painted interior and elegant wall decor.

The history of the church is closely connected with the history of Tulchin. In the late 18th century, the city occupied by the famous Count Stanislaw Potocki, who brought these places marked prosperity. Potocki Palace is nearby and a whole range of traditional country estate with a rich aristocratic exterior. The means of the citizen was built Assumption Church in 1789. For many years the descendants of Count were directly related to the leadership of the church and clergy appointed by a special principle. The most important priests and parishioners have the right to be buried in the yard of the church. According to the archives, here is more than 50 graves, but have survived only two burial cross detailing who is buried beneath them.

The temple is considered one of the most important shrines of modern Tulchin. There have regular restoration and maintain the beauty around the building. Church of the Assumption is the honorary title of an architectural monument, built over 200 years ago and has kept its original appearance.
