Church of the Nativity of the Virgin, Rosochy, Opole Voivodeship
Stone Church of the Nativity of the Virgin - is the only attraction of the small village of Rosochy, Opole Voivodeship. The once white walls of the church defended the peace and tranquility of local residents.
It is not known when the monastery was built. It is assumed that the massive vaults of the church were part of the fortifications of 15-17 centuries. At that time, the temple was regarded as the most thorough construction of the village. The walls are made of crushed stone, of a thickness of 1 meter for all his life saved hundreds of lives.
With the end of the devastating attacks of the church was the only place of worship of the village. In the period from the 18th to the 19th century Church of the Nativity of the Virgin experienced a large number of renovations that destroyed its original appearance. The only thing that was able to save up to 1980 - is a unique shingle roof of the temple.
During the last renovation in the 1980s disappeared and shingle coating, it was replaced by tin and slate. This was the last straw in the destruction of the authenticity of the relics.
Despite the fact that the Church of the Nativity of the Virgin on the list of cultural heritage of Ukraine, funding for its restoration are released. Worthy of the temple - it is work the local community, which supports the construction of its own right.
Today the Church of Nativity closed to the public. Rare tourists can enjoy just the tip of the building, peering over the fence.
