Nicholas Church, Izky
Nicholas wooden church in the village Izky for 4 centuries welcomes parishioners in a picturesque place among the Carpathian Mountains. The church was built in the 17th century and underwent several renovations that significantly altered its original appearance. The surviving elements in the interior indicate that the original St. Nicholas Church was built of spruce logs, which is typical for the then Boykivshchyna temples.
Together with the temple has survived the bell tower. The main advantage of Nicholas Church is considered an icon of the Virgin. Known art critic George Logvin called it "Transcarpathian Madonna." By the time we survived carved iconostasis of the 18th century, as well as wooden chandelier and sconces, but the old wall paintings have recently been painted over and lost forever.
The village where the church of St. Nicholas, is especially popular in winter. There is a ski resort Izki . This is one of the highlights of Transcarpathia.
