St. Kazan Cathedral in Chyhyryn
The city is Chyhyryn St. Kazan Cathedral, whose building is an architectural gem and is a landmark of the city. The temple is located in the Cherkassy region. Earlier in his place was a church, erected in 1888. Work on the construction of the temple took place solely on donations sailors returning from service in his hometown. The temple had a majestic appearance. It is decorated with two shiny dome and bell tower. Bunk belfry, contains sixteen bells, each of which had its own value and characteristic sound. The vaults and walls of the temple were placed icons and iconostasis, telling about the lives of the saints. Temple walls were built of brick (painted in a light color), which contrasted with light green dome decorated with golden stars.
The cathedral was destroyed and dismantled during the religious persecution of the Bolsheviks in 1934. Restoration of the temple was completed in 2004 on the money patrons. Service in the cathedral began in 2007 after his consecration, Metropolitan Safronov.
