Palace Sangushko, Iziaslav

In Ukraine not many cities that can boast millennial history. One of these is in the Khmelnitsky region. This - Izyaslav. History of the palace

It was decided to build new fortifications on the river Gorin. The first phase of construction started princes Zaslavsky first half of the 17th century.

Building of this building was related to the Princes Sangushko. In the mid-18th century Iziaslav new owners began to build a two-storey palace on the site of the castle of the 17th century. The city Izyaslav were on the tracks that led from West to East of the Russian Empire. It is known that in 1711 in the palace of Prince Sangushko visited Emperor Peter the Great. There were strategically important negotiations with the Polish king Stanislaw Augustus regarding joining forces against a common enemy - the Turks.

It was not the last emperor who came to visit the prince. In 1780 and 1787 respectively in the palace was Austrian Emperor Joseph II. Also Sangushko visited last king of Poland, Stanislaw August Poniatowski IV, the head of the family who awarded the Order of the White Eagle.

From baroque complex remained only peeling walls of the palace, a bridge and an indoor courtyard with arcades.
