Palace Manesku, Chertoroem

Manesku Palace - one of the oldest and most mysterious monuments of Bukovina.

Castle is in the village Chortoryia Kitsmansky area. The exact date of construction is unknown. But the list of local monuments of culture Chernivtsi Region is a record that the palace was built in the mid 19th century. But in other documents a date early 18th century.

History of the palace Manesku

This palace is named after the Romanian rich Manesku. Presumably, the first owner it is. Rumor has it that the first owner of the estate of Mr. Dzhurdzhuvan lost cards. Tomb Dzhurdzhuvana is very close - about wooden church.

But whatever the twists and turns around the palace, it is important that survived to the unique architectural monument in eclectic style, with Gothic windows and a tower with Romanian motifs.

Local say that Mr. Manesku in 1920 built a new mansion, and this opened an orphanage.

In the early 40s of the 20th century in Bukovina joined the Red Army troops. And with the beautiful palace made stable. Rumor has it that in the mid fireplaces were very good, and the walls - painted angels. However, it was decided all this beauty sketch. But the paint was so wide that the picture soon tread through the whitewash.

Another attraction is the bicentennial tulip tree that grows in the park near the palace.

Today the palace operates a psychiatric clinic.

What else is interesting in Chortoryia

It is a small village known as the birthplace of the famous Ukrainian actor Ivan Mykolaichuk. It operates its museum-estate. Reproduced house, where the actor was born. However, the estate is reconstruction, and made it in 1991. Museum caring older sister of actor, Ms Frozyna. After visiting the museum ask the local road to Swan Lake. After the death of famous actor first came swans spend the winter on the lake. They say that is the soul of the actor returned home.

Also go to the wooden church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin. It was built in the mid 18th century. According to legend, when the previous church burned down, the local lord decided to buy a new one in the Carpathian masters. It is transported in parts to the village and built on site.

How to get to the palace in Chortoryia Manesku

First you need to get to the Chernovtsy. If you are traveling by public transport, you will need to get to the bus station, there to find a bus that goes toward Vizhnitse through Vashkovtsy. Chortoryia is a few kilometers before Vashkivtsi. Logging out is necessary at the bus stop for so better reach all the interesting places.
