St. Michael`s Church, Snyatyn

In the city center Sniatyn in the years 1880-1886 was built the church of St. Michael the Archangel Miracle. In the years 1878-1882 lived here the priest Theophilus UKGTS Kobrin with his wife Natalia Kobrin - one of the first Ukrainian feminists. He was rector of the Church of the Holy Ascension . That father Theophilus decided to build in the center of a new temple Sniatyn large instead of the old. In the spring of 1880 for the construction of land was consecrated by Metropolitan Joseph UKGTS Sembratovych. This event is celebrated in the city for three days. It came Lviv choir of theologians who at one time ran a father Theophilus. Since then Sniatyn got its own church choir. Kobrin was in it and the conductor and singer.

For the construction of needed material. Father Theophilus managed to dislodge the Austrian authorities` permission to put to use the brick for construction work, remained in a strong fire from destroying the military barracks. The construction of the new church was attended by all residents Sniatyn, including the priest. During the construction work, he caught a bad cold and contracted tuberculosis. Priest died April 14, 1882, without seeing the new temple.

St. Michael`s Church for worship was opened September 19, 1886. Consecrated its bishop Julian Peles.
