Okhtyrka Holy Trinity Monastery

Holy Trinity Monastery in the village Chernetchina - one of the oldest in Ukraine. Construction of the monastery is shrouded in many legends. Presumably, it was founded in 1654, after a petition to the king Ioannikija abbot. Monastery many times closed and reopened during the whole time of its existence. Monastery famous for its temples and miracle-working icons until the Revolution of 1917, when the new government closed it again. Again monastic cloister was restored and opened only in 2002, since then restored historical documents, icons and monastic way of life.
The building of the monastery is represented by imposing red brick towers and picturesque temples with rich iconostasis and church utensils. High arch windows on the bell tower, a lot of small windows and clean lines of the building reflect the beauty of Ukrainian church architecture of the late 17th century. The building was most authentic reconstructed according to historical records.
