In the Zaporozhye region on the left bank of the river Kalka stretches a beautiful city with an unusual name canopies. His history as a place to settle canopies begin before our era with a 3-1 millennium. This is confirmed found during excavations burials bronze and copper era. During World War II inhabitants Pologov had a very hard time. In 1941, the village was occupied by the Germans, who immediately established a harsh regime of Hitler. During the occupation, the Nazis destroyed many residents of the city, of which a large number were children of different ages. On labor in Germany were deported 966 citizens. In 1943, the canopies were released by German troops. Departing from the city, the Germans have done a lot of harm:

- burned hospitals, schools, homes, other buildings and structures.
Soviet troops entered the city September 17, 1943. It was the army of the Southern Front. Fighting for a city in the fighting killed 95 soldiers in total.
