Taras Shevchenko Monument, Energodar
Monument to Taras Shevchenko installed in many cities of Ukraine and even in other countries. Since 2004, there is such in the city of Energodar Zaporozhye region. It is made of red granite and is the pedestal on which the bust of Shevchenko. The whole monument has a height of 4 m. Its authors and creators become sculptors from Zaporozhye father and son Paul and George Logvinova.
The history of the monument to Taras Shevchenko
This monument to the city and its residents have been waiting a very long time. Even in Soviet times, somewhere in the 80s, instead of the monument to Taras Shevchenko then planned installation of the monument to Lenin. In connection with such an event was organized to raise funds, but before 1990, so nothing has been found. That same year, the local authorities have decided not to install a monument to the leader. So the city was left without a monument, but in 2001, at a meeting of deputies have decided that it is necessary to erect a monument to Shevchenko. Since that time, the robot began to create it. A lot of controversy is the future location of the monument. Three options were proposed: in front of the newly established communications hub in the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant at the intersection of Prospect Builders and Energy, the third place was the area around the Palace of Culture "Contemporary". The latter option was approved.
True to this day, not all residents and visitors to enjoy this place. Many attribute this to the fact that Shevchenko turned his back to the building, as if turning away from the cultural life of the city. Despite such statements, and attempt to move the monument to Kobzar, he still remains in place to this day. Monument to Taras Shevchenko was opened to the 190th anniversary of his birth.
