Eski-Kerman

Eski-Kerman - one of the largest Crimean cave towns, founded in the 6th century AD. This ancient town in the Middle Ages was the center of trade and economic life of the nearby settlements.

 

Eski-Kerman included in Bakhchisaray Historical and Cultural Reserve, in its territory have survived numerous antiquities. Examine complex better with its southern side. Not far from the main gate is carved in stone temple "Three horsemen." In the inner part of the building has ancient Greek frescoes 12-13 centuries. Nearby spreading cornel trees grow in the shade where you can hide from the southern heat.

On the right side of the main road is a cave temple "Assumption", there are remains of an ancient cave paintings, as well as complex wine. Near the temple are living at home, the lower floors of which were cut in the rocks.

To date, Eski-Kerman is not only one of the biggest "cave towns" of the Crimea, but the most unexplored archaeological monument peninsula. Therefore, these sites are particularly popular among historians, archaeologists and just lovers of antiquity.

 

Incredibly beautiful Eski-Kerman in the spring and summer. During this period, the picturesque flower meadows alternate with fragrant juniper forest, creating a unique atmosphere foothills. Reach the ancient city can be on a bus, which departs from Bakhchisarai Holmovka to the village. Moreover, from Sevastopol, Yalta and Bakhchisarai to the village Zalesnoe also ply buses. From the village Zalesnoe laid trail leading to the southern part of Eski-Kerman. If you prefer to travel by car, the most convenient route is through the village of Red Poppy and Holmovka.
