The Green Theatre

Green Theatre - is an extraordinary open-air theater in Kiev , built on the slopes of the Dnieper River in 1949. Its special feature is that the elements of the theater is one of the two casemate wall of the former military buildings of the 19th century, which was part of a complex of New Pechersk fortress. The upper retaining wall had to cover the approach to the Chain Bridge and Podolski goal, the lower semicircular wall guarding the water tower on the banks of the Dnieper.

In the early 20th century fortress began to be used as a warehouse. Over time, the tower was demolished, and between walls built cinema. Since after the Second World War the city was in ruins, architect A. Vlasov proposed to build an entertainment center on the slopes of the Dnieper. There was a park with carousels and built amphitheater for 4,000 seats. However, as time passed, and in 2011 in the Green Theater was the summer of the same name located nightclub. Due to financial problems, in 2014 the club was closed. However, in the memory of the people of Kiev Green Theatre is a general cultural destination for people of all ages.
