Samara Desert Nicholas Monastery

The monastery is located just a few kilometers from the Novomoskovsk surrounded by beautiful deciduous forest. This place is especially appeal to those who want to escape the hustle and bustle. There is an atmosphere of peace and tranquility. Desert-Nikolaev monastery was the main shrine of the Cossacks. It was founded in 1602 and was considered a reliable outpost in the Russian-Turkish wars of 1735-1739 and 1768-1774.

Today the monastery are four churches, the most interesting of them - is an underground temple Kirik and Ulitka. It is located at a depth of 10 meters.
