Holy Trinity Cathedral
For over two hundred years, towering at Victory Square in Novomoskovsk unique dome of Holy Trinity Cathedral. Like the church in the world today is not! It was built in 1775-1778 years without a single iron nail on the orders of the last ataman Zaporizhzhya Sich. Zaporozhtsy decided they did not fit in the temple of the Lord in a tree to drive the iron nails. It was the last temple, which the Cossacks erected before the abolition of the Sich.
In the temple there is a rich decoration, it conquers its simple beauty. This masterpiece was created by all the canons of wooden architecture. Today, it remains a mystery as the masters of that time managed to achieve such a high precision manufacturing of parts of the church.
Throughout its history, the Cathedral was repeatedly exposed to attempts to destroy, but fortunately, he survived, regained its right to exist. Incidentally, I wonder what the Trinity Cathedral in Novomoskovsk became the central image in the novel Oles Gonchar "Cathedral", a symbol of the invincibility of the spirit of the Ukrainian people.
Holy Trinity Cathedral is included in the National register of cultural heritage of Ukraine and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
