Karst Lakes

Karst Lakes

Karst lakes located in the Ternopil region, have an interesting history of many centuries. Their origin is attributed to the existence of unchallenged on this land famous Sarmatian Sea. The name "karst" comes from their physical education - a long interaction of rocks, limestone and water led to the extraordinary beauty of colored water pools.

Scientists suggest that after the disappearance of the sea lakes were several dozen, but these days you can see only two: The Abyss (named in honor of the great depths), and blue (color infused fluffy algae). In general, both the lake often change their color depending on the time of day and year. This phenomenon is explained by the life cycle of the algae themselves.

The striking beauty of karst lakes are strictly protected as a protected zone, and for the full convenience of tourists, this includes walking bridges and convenient handrails. The water temperature in the pools ranges from 10 to 12 degrees Celsius, and their depth of up to 4 meters, while the total depth of groundwater sources reliably known.
