Assumption Church, Bar

Assumption Church, Bar

Church of the Assumption - the most significant and visited the church of the Orthodox Patriarchate in Bar. It is located in the central part of the town, close to another renowned attractions - the Catholic Church of St. Anne (temple built in the typical Gothic style and is well seen against the background of other buildings in the city).

Church of the Assumption is not inferior to the Catholic shrine, it stands majestically in the center of Bara, taking up a considerable area. Temple fenced shortie pale blue fence, which resonates with the same blue windows shrine. Church has several its neighboring buildings connected to each other. Many of them were built at different times, that is connected with the advent of ever-growing church.

The history of the shrine began in 1757, construction continued during the anti-Polish uprising. The church decided to build on the site of the destroyed Trinity Church. The new building has an interesting architectural solutions. The case itself consisted of four fronts - symbolizing the Christian cross. In the days of big city holiday with one of the sides of the building came the sound of the orchestra. Musical ensemble was placed on the balcony of the church, who survived after the restructuring in 1851. Forced to repair and construction had to be carried as a result of growing cracks in the walls of the temple.

Will bring a lot of pleasure inspection of interior decoration of the Assumption Church. Here you can see the real painting of the early 19th century, precious icons and beautiful altar in gold decorations.
