Mother of God Catholic Church
Church of the Mother of God - this is the most prominent structure of the small town of Ship Cherry. Settlement is officially recognized as the most ancient in the whole of Lviv region, documents confirm the mention of cherries with 981 years. In the city the remains of even more ancient cultures, as evidenced by archaeological excavations near the river Cherry. Since the beginning of the Renaissance town was called Ship Cherry, due to frequent courts, which were held in this city.
Church of the Mother of God was founded in the mid-19th century. It was erected on the site of the old Catholic church, named in honor of St. Michael. The structure referred to 1620, but a large fire destroyed the shrine, and the local diocese has decided to change the designation of the area and the temple.
Modern Church of the Mother of God has impressive size, the main facade stands out. Above the main entrance stands a traditional chapel, several floors high. Pointed Tower, typical for the majority of neo-Gothic churches in common with a small bell tower, built on the other side of the building. Nave church clearly visible from the nearby streets, for many years it was the tallest building Ship Cherry.
