Saviour Church in Volodymyrivka
Merciful Saviour Church is located in the former estate of "Natalevka" that once belonged to the famous Sugar Kharitonenko Pavel Ivanovich (1852-1914). The territory of the estate is recognized as a monument of landscape art of the late 19th century, here there are about 100 species of plants, many of which are exotic. Among the surviving buildings of the estate of particular interest is the Church of Our Saviour.
At the time, Pavel Kharitonov was a great lover of art, he possesses a unique collection, in particular a magnificent collection of ancient icons. In his opinion, the best place to store icons was to be a church. The design of the temple was engaged young and talented architect Alexey Shchusev, construction was started in 1911, and in 1913 the church was consecrated in the name of the All-Merciful Saviour. Rich church utensils and rare icons after the revolution were taken from the "Natalevka" deposited in the various museums, and the church was closed. Misuse of the church led to the loss of the internal wall paintings, executed in the style of old Russian painting.
