National Nature Park “Homilshansky Lisy”

In the picturesque valley of the river Seversky Donets and Gomolsha stretches reserve park "Gomolshanskie forest." This natural treasure house covers an area of about 15 thousand hectares.

Unique oak forests with centuries-old giant trees, carpet flooded meadows, snow-white lilies bloom on the transparent rivers ... Here you will meet traces of wild beasts - the graceful deer, red deer, wild boar, rare birds found their refuge in the reserve.

The park is rich not only for its fauna and flora, but also history. In it you`ll find dozens of archaeological sites, such as Suhogomolshanskoe Velikogomolshanskoe or settlement. The earliest monuments - Scythian, date back to the fourth century BC. Thousands of mounds, remains of walls, burial structures have survived to the present day. There in the park and traces of the Second World War. In these parts has been heavy fighting, as evidenced by the numerous graves of the fallen Soviet soldiers, trenches, dugouts, bunkers ...

Of particular interest are the local sites for those interested in the history of the times of the Zaporozhian Sich. Here you can see the ruins of the Cossack St. Nicholas Monastery, founded more Cossacks in 1648. About former exploits of those times reminds Kazachya hill , where they spent sightseeing tours.

Park - a popular place for tourists who prefer silence and solitude. Here you can camp out, walk around the ecological and ethnographic trails.

Gomolshanskie forests are located 50 km from Kharkiv . You can get there using the bus, trains that run in the direction of Balakley or Raisins or using private transport.
