Church of the Assumption, Myrgorod

Assumption Church in Mirgorod considered the oldest building in the city. Beautiful building towers over the other buildings on the large green lawn. Place for the church was chosen by chance. It was erected on the site of a former wooden church, built in the 17th century, with the assistance of the famous Ukrainian hetman surnamed smoothly.

In 1880 the wooden church was demolished and built a new stone church with beautiful architecture style   classicism. It is distinguished by the scope of the palace, neat shapes and luxurious decoration. A feature of the temple was a unique   ceramic   iconostasis designed by masters Mirgorodskaya school crafts. Talented painter Vasnetsov painted the inner temple hall, served as the main theme of the popular Bible stories.

Unfortunately, up to now live a luxurious outer appearance of the building. Internal painting not escaped, as the church was used as a business premises in the Soviet period.

In 1998 he was made   scale   reconstruction   shrines, during which the exterior restored with the addition of a new bell tower.
