Cathedral of the Assumption, Skala-Podilska

Roman Catholic cathedral in the small district center Scala-Podolsky in the Ternopil region can be considered by right the last echo of Gothic architecture in Ukraine. Acute steeple bell tower stands proudly, causing the association with the churches of the Czech Republic and Poland.

The cathedral was built in the early 18th century on the money Valentine Mierzejewski, who owned at the time of settlement. The spire of the bell tower was completed in the 19th century. At the same time it established on the clock tower and the building was surrounded by strong defensive walls with corner towers. These fortifications have not survived.

Yes, and the temple miraculously survived and came in its architectural grandeur to the present day. Indeed, during the Soviet era it was closed, the building arranged power and storage. Now the church was returned to believers. Temple restored, there are the service of the Greek Catholic community. On the wall of the church there is a memorial plaque in honor of the Polish poet Adam Mickiewicz.
