Castle in Panovtsah
The Khmelnytsky oblast is one of the most interesting regions of Ukraine. Perhaps nowhere is there such a large number of historical monuments. Pearl, of course, considered Kamenetz-Podolsk. But along with this wonderful city is a no less interesting historical attraction - the ruins of the castle in the village Panivtsi.
History Panivetskoho Castle
The history of the village started back in the 15th century. For a long time it was possession of lords Cherminskyh. In the second half of the 16th century John Cherminskoho daughter marries Podolski General Nicholas Potocki. As shown Panivtsi General dowry. After his death, his son inherits village - the future Kamyanetskiy elder Jan Potocki. Actually, he built a castle with a palace at one of the banks of the river canyon.
Castle immediately became known to the whole neighborhood is not as powerful defenses, but as a center of religious movements - Calvinism. As you know, Jan Potocki was a supporter of Calvinism, so sheltered on their lands Catholics persecuted Protestants. It was here in 1590 Calvinists established their college -kolehium, printing, and in one of the towers of the chapel opened.

Later, the castle still played its defensive function: it attacked the Turks twice (1621, 1633 years). But Bohdan Khmelnytsky still fortunate to capture a castle. There were not without tricks. Entering the castle, the Cossacks him hanged, and the castle was destroyed and looted. It only restored in 1770. But in the early 19th century, the new lord mayor Panivtsiv officers made the castle outbuildings - stables built and the tower, which was once a Calvinistic chapel, built the church.
Castle today
From the former grandeur of the castle preserved remains of two towers that connected the castle palace. From the castle is left only basement room. During the Soviet Union in the former College placed a cultural and kindergarten. A former church - village council. Also the former business premises rebuilt, and now there is a village school.
