Nicholas Church, Kamenetz-Podolsk
Nicholas Church is located in Kamenetz-Podolsk, which represents the different cultures of the peoples who once lived in the area. The building itself has a long and interesting history. This is one of the oldest sacred buildings in the city and is an architectural monument. The church survived to modern times unchanged. This is one of the few buildings of the Old Town, which is so well preserved.
History Nicholas Church
Initially, the site of the church in 1398 by Armenians built a wooden church. In the 15th century it was dedicated in honor of the Annunciation of the Virgin.
In 1577 it was rebuilt in solid stone church. Then it was a large-sized building. Since then the church has provided for the storage community of values, printing, banners, royal privileges. In 1672 the church was destroyed by Turkish troops.
In the early 18th century the church was rebuilt, but on a smaller scale. In the mid-18th century temple as a chapel attached to the Armenian Nicholas church (now destroyed it), which was located nearby.
In 1811, the church provided the Greek Catholic community, who dedicated it in honor of St. Nicholas. In 1839 the church again became Orthodox shrine. In 1890 there had building work, was attached porch, walls and bell tower.
In 1962 the church was closed and used for storage when needed. In 1990, it provided the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. In 1991 it returned to the temple icon of St. Nicholas. In 1997 the building was restored thoroughly. In 1998, the feast of St. Nicholas, was held celebrating the 600 anniversary of the church. In 2000 he created beautiful paintings of domestic interiors.
Today, the church belongs to the Moscow Patriarchate.
Architecture church
