Philharmonic (Musical Society), Chernivtsi

Modern City Philharmonic and the former building of the Musical Society is located in the center of Chernivtsi, on the square with the musical name. This is the main cultural attractions. Construction of the mid-19th century, is a cultural monument of local importance.

History of Music Society

History Regional Philharmonic begins in 1862, when the citizens have been created "Society for the art of music." As many as 11 years, the society did not have their own home, but in 1873 the city government had decided to allocate a plot of land to the east was still Flour Square. The first stone of the building was laid in May 1876, the grand opening of the Music Society held in November 1877.
