Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Petrasha

Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Petrasha

Petrasha - a picturesque village on Bukovinska Hutsul. You must attract beautiful slopes of the Carpathian Mountains around, but still interesting to visit the village of ancient wooden church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, in the style typical of the mountain part of Bukovina.

The history of the Church of Nativity

The church was built in 1863. Up to now managed to retain its original shape. During the operation conducted several church restorations, including the shingle roof was replaced with a tin and covered the walls with decorative tree.

What to see

The church is an interesting synthesis of classical Bukovina to 19th century domed church with typical Hutsul style. The dome in the middle clearly distinguished from other parts of the church, but they are not on the altar and the entrance, which is typical Hutsul style.

The Church too blends into the surrounding landscape of the Carpathian Mountains. Summer temple just immersed in the surrounding greenery, which gives it a nice flavor.
