Cathedral of the Holy Spirit, Romney
In the historic city of Romney on the territory of unpreserved temple, built in 1689, was created by an unknown architect Cathedral of the Holy Spirit. This the oldest building of stone in the Sumy region. A unique reminder of architecture in the Ukrainian Baroque style belongs to the 1738-1746 biennium. On one side of the cathedral is the Piazza existing here since the 17th century, on the other - remains of ancient citadel (Kremlin).
The architecture of the cathedral harmoniously intertwined volume in the form of a cube, typical Russian Church, and especially tripartite Ukrainian churches. The construction is an ensemble consisting of such buildings: the Cathedral of the Holy Spirit directly, Vasilievskaya church cleric and habitations.
Earlier in the temple was a painting of the famous Ukrainian artist Stetsenko. The cloth is the burial place was over daughter famous memoirist J. Markowitz - Mary. Now the situation is in the museum of Romney.
